Opus 8
(1976 + 2018)
Gene R. Bedient Tracker Organ
The organ created for Wesley House by the Gene R. Bedient Company is the outgrowth of more than three years of thought, research, planning, and meticulous craftsmanship. While not a copy of any particular instrument, the organ derives from a specific, coherent tradition of tonal philosophy and building practices, namely from the 16th, 17th and 18th century instruments of northern Europe.
Originally, in Cornerstone Church, in Lincoln N.E., the Opus 8 Organ was transferred to the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center upon the completion and dedication of the Church in 2016 by His Excellency, Bishop James D. Conley, 9th Bishop of the Diocese of Lincoln.
The addition of the pedal towers, designed and built by Ryan Luckey of Bedient Organ were installed in 2018.
The organ now is composed of 28 ranks and 1, 167 pipes.
